Tube Clamp | Types And Applications
The tools and accessories manufacturing industry have been an important sector of engineering world right from the beginning of 20th century and now it has become highly competitive with numerous products. Tube clamp is just a single engineering tool which is used to hold pipes together in many different situations. This little tool has many applications and benefits of its own.
Manufacturers use different materials to manufacture tube clamp and each combination of materials are made on users demand. The tube clamp can be made up of any material like Plastic, Nylon, Carbon Steel, Non-ferrous alloys, Stainless Steel, Polypropylene and aluminum. It is not necessary to build them with just single material but they are mostly manufactured by reacting some of the above mentioned materials chemically.
In the industrial unit they are made in different shapes in order to meet different requirements of the situation; for instance, the Atomium built in Brussels needed square shaped and oval shaped tube clamp to hold the structure together, that’s why manufacturers have to design them in different shapes to come up to the users expectations. And also every shape is available in different sizes, the least size for tube clamp is 2’’ diameter. Some of them are specially rubber coated for specific purposes.
There are different types of tube clamp; some are mentioned below with their uses. Short Tee tube clamp is one of them which are used on straight and level railing to connect the vertical to the top rail, or the end or mid rail to the vertical. Pipes and tubes cannot be joined inside a short tee. The other type is Add On Short Tee tube clamp; it is free in size it can be extended in same structure without taking it to pieces. Long Tee is designed to be used for same purpose as short tee, but the only difference is that tube and pipes can be joined inside it. Way through also used to connect themed of straight and level railing at a corner of 90 degree. Socket Cross is also used on straight and level railings to join the mid rails with vertical ones, in a way that vertical rails must remain continuous with cross rails being cut. Variable elbows are made to join two tubes between the angles of 15 degree to 60 degree on guardrails or balcony rails or stair case rails. It also prevents the tube or pipe from bending. Two way elbow are designed for straight and level railings to connect the top rails to upright and its normally 90 degree bended. Three way elbow is also like two way elbow but three way elbow joins three pipes or tubes with 90 degree and two way elbow connects just two of them at 90 degree. Adjustable Tee is made for steeper or acute angles. Wall flange type is crafted to connect the rails to the walls.
There are many applications of tube clamp. Stainless steel made tube clamp is used for heavy duty applications but plastic tube clamps are used for light duty tasks as plastic cannot resist pressure as stainless steel can. SO while selecting see what your application requirements are to get the right product.
